("A few more ticks and Mr. Goldfinger would have hit the jackpot.") This really is a quintessential film music album. It's jazz. It's lounge. It's swing. It's rock. It's lyrical. It's JAMES BOND in a single CD, and it will transport you back to the mid-sixties when Bond, martinis, divas, /5().

One of John Barry's best efforts, with a particularly striking title song belted out by Shirley Bassey between blasting brass fills, Goldfinger was also the first James Bond soundtrack to hit the number one spot on the U.S. charts (ironically, displacing another United Artists soundtrack, A Hard Day's Night), even as Bassey's performance hit number eight as a single.9/

Dr. No was important because it set out all the themes and tropes that would appear in all the subsequent movies. Goldfinger was when they all came together at their absolute best. The movie starts with a great spy scene where Bond blows up a facility, then gets with a woman, only to escape an assassination attempt/5(28).

The Best Of Goldfinger, while a bit untimely and suspiciously released barely a month after the band's latest proper full-length, Disconnection Notice, is a mostly complete package, the CD version containing 17 tracks (13 "hits," 1 previously unreleased, 3 movie soundtrack cuts) and a DVD with all the band's music videos and a few previously /5(16).

I was a big Goldfinger fan back in the day so I jumped at the chance to pick this up on vinyl. The record itself is perfectly acceptable, but the cover is just horrendous. The artwork is blurry, almost as if they just blew up an original CD insert. Pretty disappointing.
